Election Day is right around the corner–make sure you’re armed with the information you need to help support workers in Michigan and nationwide.
Before you go to the polls:
- Find out what candidates and proposals support labor and progressive policies. GEO does not make endorsements of individual candidates in most races, but here are some resources as you make your decisions:
- AFT Michigan, our state-level union, has endorsed candidates for state representatives, other elected offices (including Board of Education and Regents) and ballot initiatives. Those recommendations are listed in this printer-friendly PDF voter guide.
- Progress Michigan’s endorsements for state representatives and ballot initiatives can be found here. A link to the multi-page PDF version is on the left.
- The League of Women Voters offers a multi-page PDF nonpartisan guide to state races.
- GEO has endorsed two candidates for University of Michigan Regent this year: Mark Bernstein and Shauna Ryder-Diggs, MD.
- Know your voting location. Not sure which district number you’re in? Want to check that you are registered to vote and find the address of your polling place? Do a quick search for yourself at the Michigan Voter Information Center. (Don’t be alarmed, however, if you do a “search for voter information by name” and can’t find yourself in the system. Searching by your Michigan driver’s license number can be the more reliable option.)
- Remember to vote yes on Proposal 2 to protect workers’ rights. If you want more information, visit the Protect Working Families website. Make sure your GEO and pro-labor friends are educated on this crucial ballot proposal.
- Want to get involved to turn out the vote in this important election? Send an email to umgeo@umich.edu and let us know what blocks of time you’d be available on election day or the days leading up to election day and we’ll follow up with you.
Share these links with friends! In a key election year, GEO wants no potential voter left behind.
