According to the benefits office, when asked about continuing coverage from past appointments: “A good rule is that they can never assume it all goes on as was. call our service center and have them chek.

certainly, if there is ANY lapse, they will have to re-enroll. for continuing appointments with no lapse, as long as the ‘next’ job is on line when the last one ends, all will be well. if it is delayed for any reason and is not in place ‘on line’ when the old job ends, they will most likely get a letter saying coverage has ended. they can call our service center and just have it reactivated as long as the job is there. if they are schlorship students(or become such mid year), then their healthcare will be with mcare directly and the apps and policies with us will end. they will need to reapply. you can always check with the service center at 615-2000 or email to Karen Baer kbaer@umich.edu (she’s the resident expert)…”
