One of the things we’ve been hearing from grads around campus — especially GSRAs — is that they feel that they would know more about the contract campaign and the effort to restore bargaining rights to GSRAs if only a meeting were held in their department. Another thing we’ve been hearing is that GEO is resistant to such meetings.
Far from it!
Departmental meetings are foundational to GEO governance. We encourage our stewards to hold multiple department meetings every term. As a matter of fact, when a new steward joins the Stewards Council the first thing we ask the steward to do is organize a meeting in his or her department.
That said, it’s clear enough that there are some grads who have gotten the opposite impression. So, in order to facilitate the scheduling and holding of department meetings, we’ve developed a webform that can be used by grads who want to set up a meeting in their department.
