The off-year elections are almost upon us: Nov 4th! While GEO does not endorse candidates on party lines, our membership with the Huron Valley Central Labor Council (HVCLC) allows us to support their candidate endorsements.
It is extremely important for all graduate students to know who the candidates for the University of Michigan Board of Regents are. Regents are the primary governing body of the university and represent UM at the bargaining table. Having a receptive Board of Regents is critical to ensuring our rights as graduate employees are secure. Unlike other universities, regents at UM are elected by voters in Michigan, so it is of the utmost importance that you know who is on the ballot and tell others what is at stake in the upcoming election.
It is crucial that we elect regents candidates that will support graduate student labor and GEO.
The regents candidates that HVCLC and GEO support are: Mike Behm and Kathryn White.
Please vote on November 4th! The off-year elections are extremely important–Vote and tell your friends to vote!!
Please see the HVCLC page for a full list of their endorsements for Nov 4, 2014:
