In today’s remote bargaining session with U-M, the bargaining team made substantial progress on extending the sexual harassment grievance timeline; the team is excited about the status of this proposal after many difficult but ultimately productive conversations.
In very exciting news, the university accepted GEO’s proposal of six weeks paid medical leave, and unpaid leave for legal/criminal proceedings.
Unfortunately, the university rejected GEO’s proposals on parental leave, bereavement leave, and professional development leave. The team also received disappointing responses from HR about proposals on sexual harassment and misconduct protections and child care. They continue to make it clear where GEO members’ priorities lie on these issues.
The next remote bargaining session will be on Wednesday afternoon.
