GMM December 8 at 7:30PM
- We will be presenting and discussing updates to our Bylaws for the new Right-to-Work environment.
- We will discuss and brainstorm effective ways to have discussions about the importance of dues with our peers.
- We’ll share updates from the special conferences we’ve held on topics from bargaining: trans health, child care subsidies, tuition waiver taxes, Spencer and workplace safety.
North Campus Events This Week
This week, there will be two events on North Campus!
- Thursday, November 30 at 1:00PM (Duderstadt Connector): GEO is providing coffee and donuts in the Duderstadt Connector for folks interested in talking with us. Come say hi and grab some free food between classes.
- Friday, December 1 from 4:00-5:30PM (EECS 1003): GEO is hosting a North Campus-wide meeting and social with free food. This is a great opportunity to hear more about what GEO is up to.
LEO Rally This Friday at Noon
LEO, or Lecturers’ Employee Organization, is the lecturers’ union that represents all non-tenure track instructional faculty on all three campuses. Non-tenure track faculty hold the same academic qualifications, and often perform the same service and research duties, as tenure-track faculty. However, in general they receive substantially lower salaries and they have much less job security. LEO is entering into negotiations with the university for a new contract this year. Lecturers need undergraduate and graduate students’, as well as community allies’, support and solidarity in order to convince the administration to pay them fair wages and give them health care coverage. You can support LEO by showing up for LEO at their December 1 rally 12:00PM at Palmer Commons, sharing their facebook event, and talking to your colleagues and students about LEO!
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Campaign
In addition to continuing our work advocating for fairly compensated DEI labor, the DEI Core team is beginning work on a campaign to improve the University’s availability of ASL interpreters.
