Article 17 of our contract deals with class size.

Class size affects our workload. Our contract states that each department that employs GSIs must establish a class size policy with minimum and maximum student to GSI ratios, and that this policy is available, by request, to any Employee. Further, this article states that no GSI can be required to accept students over their maximum class size; if the GSI chooses to admit students over the maximum enrollment, however, the GSI will not in turn receive a higher pay fraction. In other words, our departments cannot make us accept more students than the established maximum for any given class, but if we choose to accept more students, there’s no rise in our pay rate. In addition, this article also states that once during each term, Employees may meet with the department chair and a GEO representative to discuss issues related to class size.
