Today the team passed across counters on Salaries, including hours, Employee Rights, including gender inclusive restroom access, and more language on protections re: sexual misconduct and disability accommodations. The team made some concessions that they hope will mean we see more movement from HR.
Today was the first session with a mediator present, which HR had deemed necessary. A mediator is a neutral third party present at the table. A mediator’s unique function is to act, when necessary, as a go-between the two bargaining teams (us and HR).
Conversations at the table did not substantively change as the team continued to put across proposals in a timely and thoughtful manner. We continue to think mediation isn’t necessary, as long as HR counters in a meaningful way.
